Congrats are in order for Audi!

They received the award for World Car of the Year 2014 for the Audi A3. The announcement was made at the New York Auto Show earlier this month.

The voting panel, made up of a jury of 69 automotive journalists representing 22 countries, selected the third generation Audi A3 over 23 other automobiles to win the impressive title.

Audi is no stranger to this award. In 2005, they won the same award for their A6 model.

Volkswagen Group scored majorly with consumers in the latest J.D. Power 2013 APEAL Study, nabbing five model-level awards.

The Audi Allroad, Porsche Boxster, Porsche Cayenne, VW GTI and VW Passat models each received individual segment awards.

The study focuses on measuring new vehicle appeal, including new technologies and features that are offered on vehicles. Owners that participated in the study evaluated their purchases on 77 attributes, which then were scored and grouped into vehicle segments based on similar-type models.

Owning a German car can be expensive, but that expense can pay off if reliability is something you look for in a vehicle, especially a German vehicle.

According to J.D. Power’s 2013 Vehicle Dependability Survey, Porsche was listed second overall, and Mercedes-Benz wasn’t far behind in the number 5 spot. For the second straight year, Lexus holds the crown ranking the highest brand in vehicle durability.
